Common Questions

Is 100 amp service enough for a modern home?
For smaller homes without electric heating, EV chargers, or major appliances, 100 amps may be sufficient. However, most modern homes with central air, electric dryers, and any future plans for an EV charger or hot tub will benefit from 200 amp service.
How much does a panel upgrade cost in Ontario?
A 100A to 200A panel upgrade in Hamilton and the Niagara region typically costs between $3,500 and $5,500, including ESA permit and inspection. The exact price depends on your homes existing wiring, meter base condition, and utility requirements.
Do I need a permit to upgrade my electrical panel?
Yes. In Ontario, all electrical panel upgrades require an ESA (Electrical Safety Authority) permit and inspection. At Remarkable Electric, we include all permits and inspections in our quoted price.
How long does a panel upgrade take?
Most residential panel upgrades are completed in one day. Your power will be off for 4-6 hours during the swap. We coordinate with your utility company for the meter disconnect and reconnect.
